Throughout the history of world economic development, no technology field has had such a profound impact and played such a crucial role as the semiconductor chip industry. Not only dominating technological development, semiconductors are also an important factor affecting national security and the global economy. Therefore, many countries are striving to participate in the value chain and want to hold an important role in this industry.
The current context is witnessing a fundamental change in the global semiconductor industry, with the restructuring of the supply chain. This opens up opportunities for many countries, including Vietnam, to join the race to develop semiconductor production and supply capacity.
With its strategic geopolitical position and abundant raw materials, Vietnam has the potential to contribute more to the global semiconductor industry. This, also creates conditions for Vietnam to build the capacity to create key semiconductor products, playing an active role in the international semiconductor value chain.
Vietnam is eager to build a strong semiconductor industry. Following the report on the global semiconductor industry released in November 2023, this study was conducted to propose strategic development directions for Vietnam's semiconductor industry.
When a country has mastered semiconductor technology, many great opportunities will open up, from economic growth, improving global competitiveness, to strengthening national security. The strong growth of the semiconductor industry is a testament to this. In 2022, the value of the semiconductor industry is estimated to reach 574 billion USD, nearly double the 370 billion USD in 2016, and is expected to reach 1,833 billion USD by 2032.
In the context of the global supply chain of the semiconductor industry is restructuring strongly, Vietnam needs to quickly seize the opportunity. To succeed, Vietnam needs to build a comprehensive, flexible and practical semiconductor industry development strategy, helping to compete with other countries in the region.
We, Discovery Group, with a team of experienced human resources in research and manufacturing, have a deep understanding of the semiconductor chip industry. On that basis, we are fully capable of producing key materials to meet the needs of semiconductor chip manufacturing technology with the goal of meeting the criteria to become a national high-tech product, thereby having the ability and class to be present on the domestic and international supply chain.
We have realized and realized that this is an urgent task to perform to contribute to promoting the development of the Semiconductor industry and that means that we also need basic factors such as:
- Proactively source raw materials for the Semiconductor industry.
- Apply technology from advanced countries, towards owning source technology.
- Establish a R&D research and development center and a Lab system.
- Establish a Human Resources system, along with a team of domestic and foreign experts: Experienced, sufficient in quantity, ensuring quality.
- Product quality meets standards international standards that meet the criteria of the Semiconductor industry.
- Competitive prices, optimizing costs to affirm the brand, creating a solid position in the market with a certain target market share.
- Investment finance: 226 million USD.
- Overall implementation roadmap: Within 30 months
- Strategic partners: Domestic and foreign individuals/organizations.
- Target market: Global.
- Place high responsibility to the social community.
We have determined that all of the above work is suitable for the main policies and government as well as in tune with current global trends. Particularly important is the positive contribution to the goal of successfully completing the "Zet zero" zero emission project of the Vietnamese government.
The completed project will contribute to:
+ Vietnam becomes a strong country in supplying raw materials for the semiconductor manufacturing industry with huge revenue.
+ Become an important factor in the supply chain of manufacturing Chips, Photovoltaic Cells, Semiconductors.
+ Training a team of high-quality human resources in technology.
+ Technology transfer.
+ Promoting the advantages and values of Vietnam's mineral industry.
And when we have achieved the above results, it means that we will have contributed a significant part in completing the construction and reconstruction of a rich nation
